And he is getting a new car next year(new Porsche or something). He has had a lot of newer cars he just always kept this one. They don't want it anymore, but I do, so I might be able to get a nice LS400 for dirt cheap, like around 500 bucks. I am not sure if I should or shouldn't. Then again 1UZ. . .
No, I think I should.

What year is it?
My Dad bought a used 1991 LS400 in the mid 90s.
It was the best car that anyone in my family has ever owned. It was literally built to last forever. It even had dual radiator fans so if one broke the car wouldn't overheat.
These cars were so awesome that our neighbor made a whole business out of exporting them to China at big profits.
My Dad drove it for years and it survived a big accident without harm to him. It was repaired and then he kept driving it.
He later gave it to my Mom and she drove it for a while.
She later sold it to my friend. The interior was pretty worn at that point as it had a ton of miles on it. He didn't have much money so he just lived with the interior and drove it for years.
He eventually sold it after it had probably 300K miles.

It is a 93, it is in the title ;)
Yeah, his has 200k on it, and he hasn't had any problems with it. The engine is a powerhouse, I know that for a fact. The interior doesn't matter so much, I just want a running car! Imma straight pipe dat ho!

The fine folks who made that first video may be morons. I've gathered this from the straight pipes, and the Auto Zone Grant GT steering wheel. Don't be them.

You must do it, my father got one shortly after coming to America, a black 94' model with the carphone! He gave it to my uncle and he still has it to this day with over 250k miles! My aunt has a tan on tan one with little over 200k and they both run like champs.

Yeah an LS1 is about 430lbs, to have a running 1UZ in your car(you know the whole shebang, oil, wiring, and so on) it is about 450lbs. If you feel like learning more:

My main issue is that I live in the city. I don't have a home with a garage where I can park my future Jalop-as-fuck collection of cars.
I need to stop being young.

Great buy for a DD as well. My wife's '94 SC400 is the coupe sister to the LS400. V8, Auto, 350k miles and two cross country runs. Still on the road passing smog in SoCal. You're looking at a valve shim job (which is DIY but takes 3 days... you have to remove the cams to do it properly). Incidentals like new interior off Ebay, fluid changes (including diff), pieces/parts... The undercarriage is undercoated and the brake lines are painted and vynil coated. Common issues are Fuel ECU going bad (which is bypassable). Plenty of owner forums- lextreme has a 4.7L upgrade that looks stock (to fool California smog referees). She's on the original engine, tranny, cats and exhaust. At 200k you have another 100k (but you have to replace the timing belt, plugs, wires, distributors and igniters every 100k). It's a good buy man. The V8 itself was a $1B project at Toyota and won motor of the year for 3 years in a row. The 1999's "just submitted to see what happens" to PZEV and passed. Anyhow, like a 90's S-class it lasts forever. The 92-94 year V8's have heavy duty piston rods and the stock engine, tranny, and injectors are good to take 8-10psi of boost.

Oh you don't have to tell me about the engine, I already love the damn thing! Forged rods and crankshaft and 6 bolt main bearings!!! How epic is that, it is a racing engine in a road car. That is basically 80% of the reason why I want the car. The other 20% is to learn how to work on cars, which I am hoping here it isn't too bad. I also hope I don't have to hoist the engine out.
